Barcelona is framed by the Mediterranean
to its east, situated in catalunya in northeast spain. Blessed with a pleasant
climate all year round, it has emerged as a top European destination. One
of the reasons for this is the spectacular architecture, which can be enjoyed
throughout the city. There are excellent museums as well, including the
Picasso museum and the national museum of Catalonian art. Start your exploration
of Barcelona on la Rambla, a well-known main avenue, going from Plaza de
Catalunya all the way to the port. Along the way you can enjoy cafes, restaurants,
shops and a variety of street performers. The area known as Barri Gothic
is a maze of streets containing many gothic buildings and housing many
museums as well as la cathedral, Barcelona's largest cathedral. And of
course you don't want to miss the famous la Sagrada Familia, which remains
one of the city's most visited sights. Don't forget to bring your bathing
suit; sunbathing on the beach is a must in Barcelona.
